The Extended Day Math Tutor is responsible for supplementing students education by providing additional support and instruction outside of the classroom setting. The Extended Day Math Tutor must have a genuine interest in the growth and development of students, be very reliable, self-motivated, and a good role model.
Responsibilities :
- Assist students in small groups to understand mathematical concepts.
- Explain mathematical concepts in a clear and understandable manner, using different teaching methods and approaches to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Provide targeted teaching to help students grasp difficult mathematics topics and improve academic performance.
- Guide students through specific issues and enhance their problem solving skills.
- Assist with homework assignments.
- Keep up with the schools curriculum and relevant teaching methods.
- Provide feedback to students to highlight their strengths and areas requiring improvement, fostering an environment of continuous learning and development.
- Provide feedback to the Extended Day & Enrichment Program Director on student progress.
- Commit to a full-year program, demonstrated by arriving on time, every day and completing time cards appropriately.
- Must be available during Extended Day hours on Mondays and Wednesdays. Hours for the Upper School tutor will be 3 : 45pm-5 : 00pm and for the Academy will be 3 : 30pm-4 : 45pm.
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
- Maintains highest degree of confidentiality in staff, student and volunteer matters.
- Complies with organization and program policies and follows procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience / Qualifications :
Bachelors or Masters degree preferredLicensed math teacher preferredPassion for mathematicsExperience in a school or youth development program settingExcellent communication skillsFlexibility and reliabilityCommitment to the specific mission and goals of LFDCSExperience working with urban students of Hispanic backgrounds preferredDemonstrated ability to work as a positive team memberWork Environment :
Ability to lead and participate in activitiesAbility to walk, stand and sit for long periods of timeReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functionsStatus : Part-time on Mondays and Wednesdays starting Monday, September 8, 2025 through Wednesday, May 20, 2026. All holidays and school vacations are off.
