Community Organizer

Part-Time, Hourly | 20–25 hours per week | $20-25 / hour based on experience

Deep Center is seeking a dedicated Community Organizer to grow a coalition of justice system-impacted adults in Savannah. This role aims to build toward a future where reentry systems are more equitable, supportive, and rooted in dignity. The position has the potential to expand beyond this focus into other areas in the future, as identified by the community.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will :

• Build a coalition of justice system-impacted adults who are committed to advancing restorative reentry systems and criminal legal reform.
• Support and nurture leaders by building opportunities to develop tools, skills, and confidence to guide collective action.
• Build relationships that foster trust, solidarity, and shared purpose across the community.
• Lift up stories that challenge harmful narratives and inspire change.
• Strategize and take action through campaigns, advocacy, and mobilization efforts.
• Educate and engage the broader community through teach-ins, workshops, and forums.
• Co-facilitate the Justice Reform Partnership Southeast Chapter, a project of the Southern Center for Human Rights, to achieve its intended mission.

This position is IN PERSON in Savannah, GA. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Much of the work of this position is completed while sitting at a desk, using a computer and phone. Requires talking, hearing, and visual acuity sufficient to perform these major functions. Role frequently requires navigating a physical office space and attending meetings and events at alternate locations. Requires walking, driving, and climbing stairs in some settings.
