Summary :
A leading manufacturer in the medical technology and life sciences space is seeking a Automation Software Engineer to support digital transformation on the manufacturing floor. This role focuses on integrating automated production equipment with execution and analytics systems, using modern software tools to improve traceability, workflow efficiency, and data collection.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software that interfaces with manufacturing equipment and data systems (e.g., MES and SPC platforms).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather user requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Define and document workstation workflows and equipment interactions to support automation and compliance standards.
- Create visual documentation (e.g., flowcharts, sequence diagrams) to align stakeholders and clarify system behavior.
- Follow software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices, including design, coding, testing, and validation activities.
- Conduct system testing and validation in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provide project inputs such as schedules, risks, and deliverables; proactively flag issues that impact timelines.
- Work directly on or near the production floor to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software systems.
Required Skills
Proficiency in C# and .NET Framework for building automation and integration solutions.Experience specifically with WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) for desktop application development.Familiarity with industrial equipment protocols such as OPC-UA, Modbus, or SECS / GEM.Database experience with PL / SQL (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MS SQL) and integrating with REST / SOAP APIs.Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including on-site collaboration with equipment and operations teams.Strong analytical thinking, clear documentation practices, and effective verbal / written communication skills.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.Minimum of 4 years of software development in a manufacturing or industrial setting or 2+ years with a Master’s degree.Bonus Skills
Knowledge of MES platforms (e.g., Critical Manufacturing, FACTORYworks).Experience with SPC software systems (e.g., Camline SPACE, InfinityQS).Exposure to Linux / Unix environments.Familiarity with PLCs, machine vision, and automated equipment troubleshooting.Experience working in regulated environments.Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.LI-KM1
