job_description.job_card.job_descriptionVerify the contents of inventory loads against shipping documents and / or invoices. Load and unload inventory from company trucks, vans, or automobiles. Drive vehicles with capacities under three tons to transport inventory to and from specified destinations, such as customer location, branches, jobsites, etc. as directed by Warehouse or Store Branch Manager. Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures. Read maps and follow written or verbal geographic directions. Turn in money received from deliveries, if applicable. Maintain delivery book with invoice, customer signature, date and time of delivery. Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition. Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles. Perform emergency repairs, such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, or spark plugs. Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations. Unloading inventory from freight truck, verifying packing slip to shipment received with signature, date & time, and assigning to appropriate area in warehouse. Keeps company delivery vehicles maintained, clean and free of trash. Assists in warehouse as needed. Performs all other duties as assigned. Customer Focus- Ability to put the customer FIRST. Dedicated to meeting the expectations of agreed upon delivery times with accurate orders for the customer. Proceeds to unload / deliver inventory without damage. Acts with customers in mind. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect. Safety- Safety conscious about driving company vehicles, operating forklift and general work environment. Time Management- Uses time effectively and efficiently. Values time. Concentrates efforts on the more important priorities. Gets more done in less time than others. Can attend to a broader range of activities. Communication- Able to inform orally and in writing, with clarify and good effect. Understands clearly and quickly when instructions or orders are received. Shares pertinent information with management as needed. Problem Solving- Refers to the ability to solve difficult problems with effective solutions. Education and / or Experience- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) required. Language Skills- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents in English. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers (internal and external). Ability to effectively present information to management. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication, with supervisor, customers, co-workers, vendors, etc. Computer Skills- To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in electronic mail, record keeping, word processing, spreadsheet, etc. This role requires a beginner’s level of knowledge of Microsoft Office. Other Qualifications- Must be minimum age of 21 with 3 years of safe driving experience. Valid driver’s license is required in the state where hired. Acceptable MVR is required. Forklift certification or ability to get certified within first 30 days is required. While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50 percent of the time while operating their computer and performing office work. The individual needs to move about inside the office and at work sites. They constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and computer printer. They must be able to exchange accurate information with customers and others in the office while interacting. The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 15 pounds, occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. The individual must be capable of reviewing their work for errors and making adjustments as necessary. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate, but can escalate to high if visiting a work site. The individual frequently works in a controlled climate. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
