Position Information Position Title : University Program Associate Working Title : Veteran Certifying Official Position Number : Full-time or Part-time : Full Time Time Limited Position : No Number of Vacancies : 1 Department : External Affairs & Military Relations Posting Number : SHRA / EHRA : SHRA Job Category : Clerical and Secretarial Hiring Range : $45,.00 -$45,.00 Overall Position Competency : Journey Primary Purpose of the Organization : The primary purpose of the Office of External Affairs and Military Relations is to ensure university representatives interact with members of the higher education community and government officials. This office represents Fayetteville State University before the North Carolina Congressional Delegation, the United States Congress at large, the North Carolina General Assembly, and state and federal agencies. Military Relations staff ensures the university is providing effective and efficient services through collaboration with college and campus staff, including deans, faculty, student services personnel, and community stakeholders, to design and deliver high-quality, innovative, and flexible support services to military-connected students. Primary Purpose of the Position : Serves as one of four Veteran School Certifying Officials for Fayetteville State University’s main campus. Assist VA students / dependents in applying for educational benefits. Responsible for interpreting and explaining VA regulations and analyzing how VA policy changes impact FSU’s policies and procedures to design and implement solutions for the organization and processing of VA benefits. Provides excellent customer service to support Bronco military-connected students. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements : Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Knowledge skills and abilities :

• Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.

• Instructional ability (instruct and train employees and students by providing information, appropriate procedures, practices, and policies as they pertain to VA benefits.
