Rover Analyst

Venturi Astrolab, Inc. (Astrolab) is developing planetary rovers and infrastructure to explore and establish human presence on the Moon and Mars. We are seeking motivated, creative, and exceptional people to join our team.

As a Rover Analyst, you will work with our Mechanical, Guidance, Navigation, and Control, Simulation, and Test teams to develop planetary rovers and related systems. You will be responsible for providing a broad range of analyses related to rover design, development, and operation.

Key Responsibilities

Modeling : Using physics, math, and computational methods to represent rover elements, such as terrain interactions, actuation, and body motion during traverses

Environmental characterization : Evaluation of planetary environments for rover engineering.

Path planning : Rover drive path design and optimization, based on mobility, energy, thermal, and communication considerations.

Rover simulation & test analysis : Evaluation of simulation or test results to provide insights or data for other engineers to use in rover development or operations.

Tool development : Creation of user-friendly software tools for other engineers to utilize rover-related performance models (e.g., robotic arm reachability, line-of-sight analysis between assets on Earth and other planetary bodies).

What's Prepared You :

Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics

Strong base in mathematics and physics

5+ years of experience in a Space-related analyst role

Proficiency with MATLAB

Ownership of task execution

Aptitude for managing priorities and operating in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work in a collaborative team environment with engineers, technicians, and leadership

Beneficial skills :

Proficiency in Python and C++ or close equivalents

Master's degree in engineering or physics

Expertise in applied physics as it relates to rover analysis

Background in rover mobility analysis

Ability to mentor and develop more junior mechanical engineers to build an effective design team
