Surgical Tech

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Performs selected procedures and related duties under the direct supervision of the RN personnel in the operating room.

Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform tasks, skills, duties, procedures and responsibilities according to Medical Center Policy and Procedure.

Demonstrates the ability to relate fundamentals of anatomy and physiology to surgical intervention by using appropriate instruments and equipment.

Performs as a surgical technician by anticipating the surgeon's needs and providing the appropriate instrumentation and assistance.

Demonstrates the ability to prepare instruments and equipment and scrub on assigned cases as well as specialty cases.

Monitoring the sterile technique of the surgical team.

Identifying breaks in sterile technique and taking corrective measures.

Job Requirements

Previous experience as a scrub technician or successful completion of a certified surgical technician course.

High School diploma or equivalent.

AHA BLS

Certification by the Association of Surgical Technicians preferred.

$33.10 - $41.37 / hour
