LOCATION : BASED IN COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA; TRAVEL TO RURAL COMMUNITIES / SATELLITE OFFICES REQUIRED

POSITION OVERVIEW :

The Rural Recovery Coach provides peer recovery support services (PRSS) for individuals with opioid use disorder, stimulant use disorder, and other substance use disorders. They use their lived experience with substance use recovery to provide strengths-based, person-centered support to individuals in rural communities. They offer empathy, understanding, and encouragement, aiming to motivate positive change and sustained recovery. Recovery coaching may involve goal setting, coping strategies, re-entry support, and assistance in accessing relevant resources. It may also involve transporting individuals to treatment and recovery related services, and to access community resources that build recovery capital.

Based at the Full Circle Recovery Community Center in Council Bluffs, this role involves frequent outreach and service provision in satellite offices and rural locations, helping individuals initiate and sustain long-term recovery through peer support, advocacy, mentoring, and resource connection. This is a non-exempt position and is based on a 40-hour work week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Peer Support and Mentorship

• Offer peer recovery support services to individuals in rural areas who are seeking to initiate and / or sustain their recovery.
• Help individuals develop recovery plans, connect with resources, and navigate challenges.
• Practice appropriate self-disclosure of personal recovery experiences to inspire and motivate individuals to seek positive change.
• Facilitate or co-facilitate recovery support groups, meetings, special events, workshops, and community education sessions.
• Support recoverees in navigating access to treatment, housing, employment, transportation, health care, and other recovery-supportive resources.
• Build trusting, supportive relationships that promote empowerment, self-advocacy, and long- term recovery.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS :

The work is performed in a typical office or administrative environment as well as at partner organizations in the community. Regular travel to rural areas and satellite offices (mileage reimbursement provided if applicable, and / or access to company vehicle for travel).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

VISION REQUIREMENTS :

The minimum standard for use with those whose work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminal, and extensive reading.
