NELSON is currently seeking Technical Designer II s to join our Workplace Practice in Dallas , New York City , and the San Francisco Bay area . The Technical Designer II is responsible for basic project construction documentation working with project team to assist overall effort of completing various project phases. Provide support primarily in project administration, design development and drawing production in all phases.

Assist in the preparation of construction documents and specificationsUpdate design documents and incorporate “red lines” as neededAssist other team members while conducting field surveys as requiredParticipate in the design process as directedProvide material, product, and system research and compile project dataOrder samples and create material boardsPrepare Addenda and Bulletin documentationMaintain and update rack sets and projects recordsPlot / Prepare drawings for digital transmittance to consultants, clients and / or contractorLog Shop Drawings and assist in Shop Drawing comment translationFollow NELSON standards and guidelines in the preparation of deliverablesReview your own work and make corrections prior completing an assignmentMaintain and archive electronic project filesProvide project administrative back-up (make copies, scanning documents, prepare packages for shipping, etc.) as requiredAssist in the programming phases as directedAssist with the schematic phases as directed (sketching, input of sketches, modification of schematic test fit plans, etc.)Embrace specific steps to create, develop and promote a diverse workforce and to promote an inclusive environmentAssist in the mapping out construction document requirementsAssist with selection and specificationCreate basic details ability to document common architectural systemsIdentify code requirements for common architectural systems, life safety, and ADAComplete small construction document sets using predetermined client standards and templatesBasic knowledge of project budget and schedules and responsibility to adhere to set parametersAbility to work more independently on smaller projects and with supervision on larger more complex projectsRequired Knowledge and Skills :
Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools, and processes involved in production of Construction Documents, precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and modelsKnowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelinesAbility to organize and prioritize tasks as needed to complete within the identified time frame and / or deadlineAbility to prioritize and effectively meet deadlines and provide high quality service to clientsBasic proficiency in Deltek Vision / VantagePointBasic knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, materials application and manufacturer-supplier appropriatenessBasic understanding of building regulations, life safety codes and ADA requirementsBasic understanding of the construction processBasic understanding of project budgets and schedulesBasic proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign graphic software preferredBasic proficiency in D Modeling software such as D Studio Max and Viz preferredQualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Drafting, or related fieldyears of relevant industry experienceHighly proficient in both Revit and AutoCADFamiliarity with Photoshop and / or InDesign preferredMust be deadline-orientedStrong attention to detailArchitectural / Technical experience working on Corporate Interiors and Workplace designBasic knowledge about sustainability, LEED guidelines, and WELL Building.
