Apprentice Millwright

Reports to : Shop Foreman

Supervisory responsibilities : None.

Summary / objective : Advanced Tooling Systems (ATS) is looking to hire a Millwright Apprentice to join their team. This position is ideal for candidates with little to no experience who have a good work ethic and a willingness to learn. On-the-job training will be provided for the Millwright Apprentice.

Apprenticeship Program Details : Millwrights are a group of specialized craftspeople who fabricate, install, level, and align precision equipment and high-torque machinery. Millwrights have an eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy that keeps complex machinery working.

ATS's program is registered through the Department of Labor. Apprentices receive on the job training and must complete the required related courses outside of work hours. Courses are paid by the company.

Essential functions :

  • On the job training will be provided for all essential functions including, but not limited to the following tasks :
  • Assembling and installing machines then testing them to make sure they are working correctly
  • Managing the layout and placement of equipment and machinery in factory settings to ensure minimum downtime
  • Identifying and repairing problematic parts of a machine by running tests, making temporary repairs, or installing new parts
  • Dismantling older machines and replacing them with new ones
  • Overseeing preventive maintenance by identifying and correcting potential issues, removing worn out pieces and lubricating mechanical parts
  • Using machinery or equipment, such as forklifts or cranes, to move mechanical parts
  • Candidate must keep work area clean
  • Candidate must follow all safety rules and report unsafe work conditions to management
  • Candidate must have regular attendance at work during scheduled work hours

Required competency, education, and experience :

  • Candidate must have high school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Candidate must have valid driver's license.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude, basic computer knowledge
  • Work environment : Manufacturing environment

    Physical demands :

  • Candidate must have full use of all limbs.
  • Candidate must be able to read and speak English.
  • Candidate must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Position type and expected hours of work : Full time, day shift. 5 days per week.

    Travel : None.
