Description : Summary
The estimator will manage the entire estimating process. The estimator is responsible for performing take-offs, scope review, and preparing the cost estimate for Community Solar Garden (CSG) projects. This position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure the accuracy of the estimates.
Job Responsibilities
- Review and fully understand scope for each project as it pertains to cost.
- Perform takeoffs for Civil, Structural, and Electrical scopes and create a BOM list.
- Review and validate the quantity and unit cost of the electrical take-off quotes from vendors.
- Obtain pricing, schedule, and other inputs from internal Engineering and Procurement groups.
- Consult with Internal partners to understand project details and determine production rates.
- Produce efficient, traceable, verifiable, and defendable estimates.
- Coordinate and lead internal reviews of prepared budgets with stakeholders.
- Accurately communicate details of project costs and potential risks.
- Maintain and update the historical cost database.
- Other Duties as assigned.

This job operates in a professional office environment, warehouse, and job sites. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently be on-site at the project and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may range from low to moderate. This position may be performed in outside weather conditions.

This is a full-time position and will require longer hours and frequent weekend work.

Required Education and Experience
1+ years of Project Management, Construction Management, Electrical field work or Estimating experience.Experience interpreting Civil and Electrical Plan sets.Strong math and analytical skills.Capable of making and defending educated assumptions in situations where facts are uncertain.Ability to communicate information clearly and present effectively.Willingness to negotiate and commit to deadlines.Demonstrated desire to take pride and responsibility for one’s own work.Ability to multitask on multiple projects.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is necessary.Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline.Experience with MS OfficeKnowledge with NEC codeExperience with ProcoreExperience with solar construction techniques, codes, and requirements.CAD, Bluebeam, and other software necessary to be self-sufficient are preferred.Novel Energy Solutions is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
