We have an exciting Mainframe Developer opportunity in Austin. This is a long term (12+ months) contract role. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the analysis, design, and implementation of Insurance projects, managing one or more projects concurrently to ensure successful delivery.
Responsibilities include :
- Completing evaluations of existing and future capabilities, conducting research into solution alternatives, enhancing system capabilities, and providing advice to stakeholders.
- Participating in joint application design sessions with customers and IT staff to define business requirements and develop software systems requirements.
- Communicating effectively with users to determine requirements for new processes and applications or modifications to existing ones.
- Being actively involved in implementations and upgrades in a low-code platform.
- Performing system configuration, documenting business processes, and preparing project documentation with a high level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and technical aptitude.
- Using standardized project management processes, tools, and techniques to address project needs.
- Developing test artifacts, conducting testing (including User Acceptance Testing - UAT), and developing training documentation for various team projects.
- Working closely with developers to track defects and resolutions.
- Performing deep technical and analytical reviews to analyze system functionality with customers and resolve production issues.
- Assisting with creating, maintaining, and enforcing global standards.
- Performing other analysis and documentation tasks as required to facilitate and support team projects.
- Assisting in diagnosing problems associated with applications and writing detailed specifications for developing or correcting issues to improve system performance and / or accuracy.
- Performing other duties as assigned to maintain operations.
Minimum Requirements
Years (4–7) : Experience in gathering and analyzing business requirements and developing software specificationsYears (4–7) : Experience documenting detailed requirements for information technology solutions that meet program and user needsYears (4–7) : Experience with DB2 table designsYears (4–7) : Experience and knowledge of mainframe programming languages such as Natural and COBOLYears (4–7) : Experience with documentation techniques such as Requirements Traceability Matrix, Software Design Document, Software Requirements Specification, User Stories, Use Cases, Data Flow Diagrams, and User Interface DesignsYears (4–7) : Demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders and development teams; experience facilitating productive meetings to gather business requirements and communicate stakeholder needs to technical staffYears (4–7) : Experience in creating test plans and complex test scenarios in collaboration with business and technical teamsYears (4–7) : Experience executing test plans, assisting team members in performing and completing testing activities; coordinating, monitoring, and facilitating user acceptance testingYears (4–7) : Experience identifying, analyzing, and documenting software defects; assisting developers in analyzing and resolving defectsYears (4–7) : Experience writing and executing SQL statements to verify test resultsYears (4–7) : Experience with Java applicationsYears (4–7) : Experience using Visio to develop workflowsYears (4–7) : Thorough knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologiesYears (4–7) : Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with business stakeholders and IT teams; ability to function as a liaison between both groupsPreferred Qualifications
