Director of Accounting – Real Estate Development & Hospitality

Salary : $160,000 – $200,000+ (Plus Bonus & Benefits)
An industry-leading real estate development and hospitality firm, known for delivering iconic luxury projects across hospitality, residential, commercial, and mixed-use spaces, is seeking an experienced Director of Accounting to lead and manage accounting operations at the corporate and construction levels.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting Leadership
- Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, AP / AR, job cost accounting, and financial reporting
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes; prepare consolidated financials in compliance with GAAP
- Develop and enforce accounting policies to support internal controls and operational efficiency
Construction Accounting
Lead all construction-related accounting activities : job costing, WIP schedules, and budget trackingCoordinate with development teams, contractors, and lenders on financial documentation and draw processesEnsure proper lien waivers, retainage, and compliance with financial and legal obligationsCorporate Accounting
Handle intercompany transactions, related party arrangements, and corporate financial reportingPartner with leadership to provide financial insights for strategic planning and operational decisionsEnsure timely tax filings and compliance in coordination with external advisorsLeadership & Collaboration
Lead and mentor an in-house accounting teamWork closely with development, legal, construction, and operations teams to support broader business goalsChampion continuous improvement across systems, reporting, and financial workflowsAudit & Compliance
Manage annual audits and financial reviews in collaboration with external auditorsMaintain strong internal controls and support due diligence efforts for acquisitions and initiativesQualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership roleDeep expertise in construction accounting and corporate financial operationsStrong knowledge of GAAP, job costing, and financial complianceExperience with construction accounting systems (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint) and ERP platformsProven leadership skills and ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholdersHighly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive with strong problem-solving abilities
