We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our team in Lansing, Michigan. In this role, you will handle various aspects of payroll processing, including union payroll, garnishments, and time card management. This is a Long-term Contract position within the education sector, offering the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities :

• Process bi-monthly payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
• Manage payroll for union employees, including adherence to union-specific terms and agreements.
• Calculate and process garnishments, tax withholdings, and other deductions as required.
• Handle payroll for part-time student workers, including reviewing and verifying time cards.
• Oversee benefits-related payroll tasks, such as deductions for health insurance and retirement plans.
• Ensure accurate preparation and distribution of IRS W-2 forms and other tax documents.
• Set up payroll accounts for new hires, ensuring all required documentation is complete and up to date.
• Collaborate with HR and finance departments to address payroll discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
• Proven experience in payroll processing, including bi-monthly and union payroll.
• Strong knowledge of garnishment calculations, tax withholdings, and other payroll deductions.
• Familiarity with benefits payroll administration and related processes.
• Experience handling IRS W-2 forms and compliance with tax regulations.
• Ability to review and manage time cards with a high level of accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in onboarding new employees from a payroll perspective.
• Excellent communication skills for working with team members and addressing payroll inquiries.
