Nestled in the heart of Eaton, the Eaton Police Department is a 24-hour operation with officers on duty around the clock to assist citizens and is proud to serve the community of Eaton, Colorado.

The School Resource Offer (SRO) position performs general law enforcement work to protect the lives, safety, health, welfare and property of school administrators, security staff, students at the Eaton School District elementary, middle and high schools by enforcing municipal ordinances, state statues, and laws. Exercises independent judgment in dealing with dangerous or unusual situations and often works under stressful, high-risk conditions. The SRO serves as the primary link between the department and the school.

The SRO position has no direct reports. This position reports to the Sergeant or Corporal and is under the general supervision of the Chief of Police.

High School Diploma or GED required. Colorado P.O.S.T. certification required. Postsecondary education preferred. 3 years of previous patrol or SRO experience preferred.

Must successfully pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen. Must successfully complete the Eaton Police Department hiring process and Patrol Field Training Program with an additional school-based phase. Must be willing to serve as an SRO for a minimum of 2 years.

This position is full-time and scheduled for 40 hours per week. Primarily work Monday through Friday, dayshift, with occasional evening and weekend shifts for extracurricular activities and games. When school is not in session, the SROs could be assigned to other shifts which could include nights and weekends.
