Systems Admin - Associate - Infrastructure-Computing

Performs routine installation, configuration, monitoring, testing, and maintenance of operating system work stations and servers, ensuring operating systems work together, support end-user business requirements, and function properly. Performs routine evaluation of the capabilities and limitations of new and existing technical tools and systems.

Job Summary :

Performs routine installation, configuration, monitoring, testing, and maintenance of operating system work stations and servers, ensuring operating systems work together, support end-user business requirements, and function properly. Performs routine evaluation of the capabilities and limitations of new and existing technical tools and systems.

Education & Experience :

Bachelor's degree in Systems Administration, Computer Science, or Information Systems, and one (1) year experience managing applications or servers in an IT environment.

Certifications, Licenses or Registration required : N / A

Preferred Qualifications : Microsoft server management, Azure or Amazon Web services certifications preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

Knowledge of computer systems, operating systems, security, software applications, and system utilities. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal, customer service, analytical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to perform routine workstation and server administration setup, testing, maintenance and support. Ability to plan, implement, test, and troubleshoot system hardware and software. Ability to monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels. Ability to perform system backup and recovery. Ability to prepare reports and maintain records and documentation.

Responsibilities :

  • Maintains integrity of the operating system environment.
  • Monitors and performs routine workstation and server administration setup, testing, maintenance and support. Applies operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes as required.
  • Performs data backup and recovery operations. Participates in shutdown and reboot of servers as required for system maintenance and emergency response action.
  • Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels. Recommends and integrates hardware and system software upgrades to optimize system performance.
  • Confers with users and performs first level problem diagnosis and problem resolution related to systems operating environment.
  • Monitors and maintains continuity with system software licensing and maintenance agreements.

Physical and Environmental Demands : Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, occasional exposure to bio-hazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and / or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing / pulling, occasional reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
