R&D Welder Fabricator

Primary Purpose

Under the guidance of the Engineering Manager this role is responsible for engineering and R&D projects. Applying engineering principles and practices during development of new products improving products equipment processes and methods of production for the organization. This role will support projects that fulfill customer and company strategic goals integrating the needs of our customers and marketing sales and manufacturing departments.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Support / assist engineering with research of new and existing product design achieving company strategic goals
• Support / assist engineering with research / experiment / analysis different material manufacturing processes design tolerances and other applicable development processes
• Coordinate testing procedures and draft specifications for manufacturing
• Provide technical assistance for process related problems : Identify and analyze production problems and implement solutions in a timely manner
• Performs setup monitoring and maintenance of the manufacturing process
• Support / assist engineering to continually refine upgrades and modify the manufacturing process to promote SQDC (Safety Quality Delivery and Cost)
• Reviews Engineering drawings and specifications makes recommendations for changes
• Support / assist engineering planning manufacturing process from initial startup for space utilization process optimization and workforce efficiency
• Support / assist with incorporating new processes into manufacturing
• A general understanding of machine and tool design designs various tooling to support manufacturing / inspection requirements
• Setup and operate all fabricating and machine shop equipment such as robotic welding equipment brake press lathe iron worker saw etc. Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. Observes equipment to detect defects or machine malfunction.
• Examines weld for bead size and other specifications and performs a variety of quality control inspections on products materials components and parts at various stages to ensure compliance with quality and reliability standards.
• Uses inspection devices as necessary to inspect parts and verify that the part is to print as required.
• Documents machine operations and preventative maintenance programs
• Provides line support and in-process failure analysis
