Retail Real Estate Director, North America – LEGO Group
Job Description
We’re looking for a passionate leader to bring the LEGO‑owned and operated stores into new markets and improve our portfolio of 100+ locations across the US and Canada. You will bring retail and lease‑negotiation experience to the Retail Development global team and drive the growth of the LEGO brand.
Core Responsibilities
Negotiate new leases and lease renewals, aligning with our retail development strategy and annual rollout plans
Work with external partners and landlords to review and select site opportunities that meet strategy, brand guidelines, space requirements and business case guardrails
Prepare and present site evaluation and approval packages to secure business case endorsement from the Global Real Estate committee
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders : Footprint Strategy, Retail Design, Construction & Project Management, Finance, Legal, Stores, Retail Operations, Retail Marketing, Commercial Planning, Global Business Services
Develop and maintain clear real‑estate processes and company standards, including lease terms
Conduct periodic portfolio reviews with landlords; drive lease actions that meet profitability targets and occupancy cost objectives
Interface with legal counsel to review LOIs, define lease‑risk protections and finalize execution documents
Partner with internal teams to ensure new stores and renovations are executed on time, leveraging landlord and local‑authority support
Maintain an up‑to‑date lease portfolio and landlord database via company tools
Do you have what it takes?
Relevant experience in retail real estate
Data‑driven mindset with strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
Excellent negotiation skills
Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and storytelling ability
Ability to work independently and cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Experience partnering with senior business leaders (Directors, VPs)
People‑leadership experience : motivating and developing teams
Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time, potentially more depending on projects
Compensation
Salary range : $156,432.00 – $234,648.00. Compensation is based on responsibilities, market benchmarks, organizational constraints, prior experience, skills, expertise, location and internal equity. Benefits will be discussed at offer.
