Duties, Responsibilities & Other

The Roadway Engineering Designer will design and prepare drawings for various civil, transportation, traffic, structural, mechanical, water / wastewater, and

utility projects. The Engineering Designer will work closely under the supervision of a Professional Engineer, contributing to engineering calculations,

drafting, and coordination of multiple engineering disciplines. This role requires a knowledge of engineering principles, relevant design software

such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, or Revit, as well as strong communication, technical writing skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Key Responsibilities :

Assist in the development of multiple construction plans for transportation projects.

• These duties will be performed under the supervision of a senior project engineer or project manager.
• Performs work which involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment.
• Assignments ususally include engineering calculations, interpretation of engineering drawing and specifications, and assistance with proposal preparation.
• Helps to coordinate work of mulitiple engineering disciplines, as well as drafting / CADD work for the project.
• Assists in preparing progress reports and may supervise small projects.
• Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer is preferred.
• Candidate must have good written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be a self-motivated dynamic individual.
• North Carolina PE certification preferred
