Structural Project Engineer – Multifamily / Luxury Construction
📍 Location : Scottsdale, AZ (In-person, some travel required)
💰 Salary : $140,000 – $170,000 per year (depending on experience)
About the Company
We are the construction division of a vertically integrated developer, specializing in new mid-rise multifamily and luxury home construction . Our projects feature concrete and steel structures , supported by in-house self-performing divisions across multiple scopes — including grading / excavation, underground wet / dry utilities, concrete / rebar, framing / drywall, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, roofing, landscaping, pool, and tile.
Position Summary
The Structural Project Engineer will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and executing structural work across multifamily and luxury home projects. This position acts as the bridge between field operations, engineering, and management — ensuring precision, efficiency, and alignment across all project phases.
The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience in structural design and field coordination , with a strong command of concrete and steel construction methods and a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Review and interpret structural and concrete drawings for compliance with project standards and building codes.
Identify and propose design improvements or modifications when required.
Coordinate structural and concrete design between engineering and construction teams.
Conduct field inspections to verify quality, accuracy, and adherence to design.
Participate in preconstruction and planning as an owner-builder representative.
Manage procurement : outreach to subcontractors, supplier selection, bid coverage, and buyout process.
Track and process submittals, RFIs, change orders, contracts, and schedules .
Maintain document control —distribute plans, monitor revisions, and manage approvals.
Attend Owner–Architect–Contractor (OAC) meetings and produce detailed minutes.
Ensure full compliance with OSHA safety regulations and company policies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or related field).
Professional Engineer (PE) preferred (not required to stamp plans).
Minimum 10+ years of experience in structural engineering, concrete, and steel design , ideally within multifamily or mixed-use construction .
Proven field inspection and on-site coordination experience.
Proficiency with modern construction software, including :
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Projects, SharePoint, Outlook)
AutoDesk (AutoCAD, BIM360, Assemble)
Procore, Primavera, Bluebeam, Egnyte, Green Halo, ProEst
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (or ability to obtain).
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship).
Skills & Competencies
Deep understanding of multifamily construction practices and local building codes .
Strong ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot structural drawings .
Exceptional problem-solving, organization, and leadership skills.
Skilled at coordinating with internal teams, subcontractors, consultants, and city officials.
Knowledge of OSHA standards , permit processes , and safe construction practices .
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk and stand on construction sites for extended periods.
Lift and carry up to 50 lbs and climb ladders / scaffolding when needed.
Work in varying weather conditions and environments (indoor / outdoor, elevated work areas).
Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
