Electrical Test Engineer

In this role, you will focus on optimizing the manufacturing and testing of electrical systems for our products. You will define test strategies, design test fixture hardware (and ideally software), qualify and deploy them internally for product level testing or externally for PCBA level testing. Your expertise in electrical systems testing and PCBA manufacturing will be crucial in providing guidance to ensure product quality and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of PCBA test plans and strategies for manufacturing, ensuring efficient and reliable testing of electrical systems.
  • Design and oversee the development of automated test systems, test fixtures, and key test points to ensure product functionality and quality.
  • Perform failure analysis and troubleshooting to identify and resolve electrical and manufacturing issues in production.
  • Collaborate with the design and development team to optimize product designs for manufacturing and testing.
  • Interface with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure the smooth transition of electrical systems from prototype to production.
  • Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior engineers, guiding them in electrical testing methodologies, failure analysis, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of electrical test methodologies, manufacturing processes, and product quality control.
  • Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams (mechanical, firmware, and software engineers) to ensure successful integration of electrical systems within the product.

Essential Skills

  • Expertise in hardware test, PCB, microcontrollers, LEDs, and subsystem testing.
  • Experience with DC products, specifically +28V DC.
  • Proven expertise in developing and implementing PCBA test plans, test systems, and automated testing processes.
  • Strong in electrical testing, failure analysis, and troubleshooting in a production environment.
  • Proficient in electrical design and testing tools (e.g., oscilloscopes, signal generators, multimeters, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of PCBA manufacturing processes and electrical assembly standards.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and suppliers to ensure efficient production and high-quality outcomes.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to meet product requirements.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., UL, CE, RoHS, etc.).
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on PCBA and OEM product manufacturing and testing.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficient in electrical layout tools such as Altium or Allegro.
  • Proficient in software test development tools such as LabVIEW or C / C++ / C#.
  • Experience with high-reliability product designs (e.g., automotive, aerospace, medical devices).
  • Familiarity with FPGA and / or embedded systems.
  • Certification in Six Sigma or similar process improvement methodologies.

    The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00 / yr. Medical, dental vision, they will share their full benefits package.
