Executive Underwriter / AVP, Underwriting Director – Contract Surety

ZURICH INSURANCE is recruiting a Contract Surety Underwriter in Oklahoma City, OK. The role is available at the Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriting Director level, with optional Executive Underwriter designation. The position is full‑time, hybrid (remote working available), and located in the AM corporate office in Edmond, AM and Oklahoma City, OK.

Responsibilities

• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Complete a detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Qualify accounts to meet the organization’s appetite while balancing sound business opportunity.
• Make agent, broker, and customer calls with a planned purpose.
• Negotiate terms & conditions and close deals.
• Cross‑sell other lines of business to increase product density with the account.
• Participate in sales team meetings related to assigned brokers and territory.
• Manage a qualified list of opportunities, maintaining a target‑account process 90‑120 days before the effective date.
• Update required systems with broker / client visit details and account status within the specified time frame.
• Serve as the key contact for assigned target accounts.
• Develop strong broker and client networks within the business unit’s underwritten industries.
• Contribute to the development of underwriting manuals, programs, and guidelines.
• Lead complex technical or long‑term (over 6 months) business projects to implement new or changed systems or products.
• Investigate, recommend, and implement leading‑edge technical solutions when they meet customer needs.

Compensation

Base Salary Range : $88,500 – $191,700 (location and experience based). The Executive Underwriter range is $88,500 – $144,900 with a 15% short‑term incentive bonus. The AVP, Underwriting Director range is $117,000 – $191,700 with a 20% short‑term incentive bonus.
