Job Summary
Responsible for general oversight and direction of quality control methods and processes across the organization, including developing a corporate quality plan and systems that ensure customer and client satisfaction through product and process performance.
Essential Duties
- Develop and implement quality initiatives to support continuous improvement, building a Culture of Quality
- Act as a subject matter expert regarding quality control specifications and principles in the laboratory and field
- Provide mentoring, coaching, training, and support for the development of the Technical Services team, Laboratory, and the Construction group within the organization
- Ensure all technical services operations and activities are conducted in conformance with company policies, regulatory agency guidance, and compliance standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional / regional teams to establish and maintain quality and reliability standards based on product, engineering, and customer requirements; develop and implement measures to improve methods that support safety, service, quality, and performance
- Establish organizational priorities in support of operations, cost control, and waste reduction, including effective utilization of resources related to the quality control function
- Coordinate the use of external laboratories and third parties involved in testing and quality control compliance
- Collect, analyze, and present data regarding product, material, and process quality to management teams; identify trends, and recommend solutions

Act as a liaison with federal, state, and local agencies on behalf of the company for matters related to qualityEngage in project work and special assignments in support of organizational goals and initiativesDevelop a Technical Services career path and milestones for employees to continue developingWork with COLAS National Technical Services Team to develop a Culture of Quality through employee development, training, and monitoring metricsEnsure that the Technical Services Team maintains all the necessary training certifications and the permits to satisfy State, Local, and Federal testing requirements, including nuclear materialBasic understanding of aggregates, hot mix, ready-mix, and asphalt liquid operationsSupport, promote, and practice the Company’s core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policiesPerform other duties as assignedDesired Skills and Abilities
8+ years of technical quality control experience and / or equivalent combination of training and experience required5+ years of demonstrated ability in quality control testing of aggregates and asphalt preferred3+ years of experience leading and developing peopleSolid business and financial foresightSelf-directed and highly motivated, requiring minimal direct guidanceAbility to effectively lead and manage change, and collaborate with others at all levels within the organizationAbility to collect and analyze information and recommend solutions for improvementExpert knowledge of applicable material testing standards and specifications governed by federal, state, and local testing agencies, including, but not limited to, DOT, ASTM, and AASHTO standardsDemonstrated understanding of construction processes and asphalt materials productionComputer skills using a range of programs and applications, including MS Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams), database / spreadsheet programs, and mobile appsAbility to present and train to groups of employeesEducation and / or Work Experience
ACI and DOT testing certifications; advanced certifications preferredKnowledge of AASHTO, FAA, FHWA, and ASTM testing methodsValid driver's license and ability to maintain a clean driving record requiredBenefits
