Required QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education :
Master's degree in English or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution with credits in English, Composition, Rhetoric, and / or Technical Writing courses.
Required Experience :
Two (2) years of full-time applicable teaching experience, or equivalent combination of part-time teaching experience, within the last five (5) years.

Twenty (20) or more graduate credit hours or fifteen (15) or more semester hours in composition and rhetoric studies, composition theory, writing studies, or similar.

Position Purpose :
Faculty are professional educators with the primary responsibility of providing a quality learning experience for all Lane Community College students. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of the teacher of record and facilitator of learning.

Physical Demands / Working Environment :
This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that includes office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors. Position requires that an employee be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; perform computer work in the form of word processing, data entry, spreadsheet work, and web-based research for several hours a day. Employees in this position may work with individuals who demonstrate inappropriate or abusive behavior. Work involves concentrated mental and visual attention for sustained periods of time. Work may require transporting materials up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Work safely.

Lane was founded in 1964 by a vote of local citizens, and the main campus opened in 1968. The college was a successor to the Eugene Technical-Vocational School that was founded in 1938.
