We're hiring multiple entry-level engineers to join our dynamic Capital Improvements team. These roles offer hands-on experience in project management, design, and technical review across a variety of stormwater, parks and transportation projects.
The Engineer in Training and Engineer 1 positions perform entry-level technical engineering work in a project management role within an engineering work group; perform technical review or design work of similar responsibility; plan, coordinate, and review the work of engineering consultants engaged in planning, survey, design, review, construction, operations, maintenance, and administration of engineering projects, programs, or systems; coordinate plan review, cost analysis, feasibility, construction, operations, and maintenance of engineering projects.
The positions also include coordination with internal and external stakeholders. The positions require understanding of roadway, drainage, and general civil engineering design practices, methods, and regulatory requirements and assist with the timely delivery of quality projects in accordance with approved schedules and budgets to meet department performance goals.
As part of the Public Works team, you will help advance our mission to manage stormwater or transportation systems to provide improved infrastructure systems for the people of Pinellas County.
This Engineer in Training or Engineer 1 position is located at : 14 South Fort Harrison Avenue, Clearwater, FL 33756. Work Schedule : Some Remote Work Available.
What Will You Do?
- Entry-level technical engineering work in a project management role within an engineering work group and / or performs technical review or design work of similar responsibility
- Plan, coordinate, and review the work of engineering consultants engaged in planning survey, design, review, construction, operations, maintenance, and administration of engineering projects, programs, or systems.
- Coordinate, site plan review, cost analysis, feasibility, construction, operations, and maintenance of engineering projects.
- Perform advanced technical engineering work in an advanced role within an operational section or performing independent technical review or design work of similar responsibility.
- Plan, coordinate, and review the work of engineering consultants engaged in planning survey, design, review, construction, operations, maintenance, and administration of engineering projects, programs, or systems.
- Coordinate staff efforts in technical engineering reports, site plan review, cost analysis, feasibility, construction, operations, and maintenance of engineering projects.
- Review plans to ensure adherence to applicable to County code, and state and local design standards.
- Reviews FEMA document to ensure compliance with floodplain management codes.
- Draft / apply for grant application and agreements for capital projects.
What Do You Need?
Degree in civil engineering or other related engineering discipline.Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Driver's License upon hire with eligibility based upon evaluation of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) driving report.Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and / or disaster situations.Engineer In Training
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or other relevant engineering discipline and has taken, or is registered to take, the Fundamentals of Engineering examination, as administered by the Florida Board of Professional Engineers, or the equivalent examination administered by another state.All Trainees must obtain the Fundamentals of Engineering certificate within twelve (12) months of appointment.An equivalent combination of training and experience.Engineer 1
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or other relevant engineering discipline.Possession of an Engineer Intern Certificate; and two (2) years of technical engineering experience that directly relates to the subject matter area of responsibility, for example, civil engineering, plan review, construction, project management, or environmental management.An equivalent combination of training and experience.Highly Desirable
