Fingerprint Technician
As a Fingerprint Technician, you will be responsible for fingerprinting and photographing persons that have been charged with criminal offenses and are in custody at the El Paso County CJC (Criminal Justice Center) and POC (Police Operations Center). Police Fingerprint Technicians deal with a diverse clientele and must be able to remain calm and present a professional demeanor when confronted by aggressive, angry, or confrontational individuals. You will have direct contact with inmates during the fingerprint and Buccal DNA collection process.

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate :
Knowledge of : Basic police department procedures and protocol Modern office equipment including computers and supporting software
Ability to : Take effective fingerprints and photographs of individuals Analyze fingerprint patterns; advise police staff as necessary Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing Establish and maintain effective working relationships
This shift position is in the Records Section, which is a 24-hour operation. Typical shifts include days (6 a.m. to 2 p.m.), swings (2 p.m. to 10 p.m.), and midnights (10 p.m. to 6 a.m.). New hires will be assigned to the shift with the greatest operational need. Your shift may change annually when shift picks occur. You must be able to work varied hours and days including holidays and weekends.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.
