Role Overview
As a CAD Mechanical Designer, you will transform sales concepts into precise, shop-ready drawings for custom vibratory screens and feeders. Your day balances design in AutoCAD and Inventor, engineering calculations, ERP documentation in Navision, and cross-team collaboration to keep production running smoothly.
What You’ll Do
- Create detailed production drawings and 3D models for all screen and feeder configurations using AutoCAD and Inventor.
- Verify project inputs : compare Sales job files with job spec sheets and overall drawings; alert the Engineering Manager and Sales to any inconsistencies.
- Support Senior Designers by detailing production drawings and assisting with repair drawing packages as needed.
- Produce technical data using engineering formulas; calculate vibrating and gross weights for use in engineering, manufacturing, and shipping documents.
- Manage ERP tasks in Navision : assign new part numbers, create Item Cards, and generate manufacturing documentation.
- Submit drawings to the Checker and the Engineering V.P. for review and revisions when required.
- Revise production documents and drawings; communicate relevant updates to the M.I.S. and Purchasing departments.
- Coordinate with Purchasing to source specialty and long lead-time materials.
- Answer shop-floor questions related to drawings and specifications.
- Build and maintain searchable libraries for new drawings to improve future retrieval.
What You’ll Bring
Hands-on experience with AutoCAD and Inventor (required).Education / experience : Associate’s degree preferred (not required); 6–12 months of related experience or equivalent training / combination.Language skills : ability to read safety rules, operating / maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; capable of writing routine documents and correspondence.Math skills : proficiency with plane / solid geometry and trigonometry; able to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical problems.Reasoning skills : comfortable solving practical problems with limited standardization; adept at interpreting instructions delivered electronically, in writing, orally, via diagrams, or schedules.Physical Demands & Work Environment
