BGCSV has grown steadily over the past decade to become the largest expanded learning organization in Santa Clara County. Our 35 program locations and team of nearly 400 staff serve more than 7,000 youth. Our clubhouses serve San Jose, Redwood City, Concord, Richmond, Pittsburg, Martinez, and Antioch youth.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions :
Supervision & Safety : Ensure a safe and nurturing environment for youth participantsFacilitate engaging activities that promote social, emotional, and physical development for a group of 20 membersProvide mentorship and guidance to members, helping them navigate challenges and achieve their goalsImplement educational programs that align with best practices in childhood developmentSupervise and manage groups of children in various settings, ensuring a safe and supportive environmentCollaborate with parents, teachers, and community organizations to enhance the overall development of youthUtilize skills in sports coaching, theater, or other extracurricular activities to enrich the program offeringsMaintain accurate records of members' progress and participation in activitiesRespond to emergencies with appropriate first aid measures when necessaryClassroom Management and Teaching
Establish classroom rules and behaviorProvide children with basic needs and ensure supervisionAdapt teaching methods to children's interests and learning stylesManage classroom activities, lessons, play, breaks, and mealsTrack children's progress and communicate effectively with parents and teachersMaintain a clean and organized classroomRelationships
Mentoring : Serve as a positive role model and mentor to young participants, fostering their self-esteem and personal developmentMaintaining a Positive Environment : Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where every child feels valued and respectedTeam Collaboration : Collaborate with colleagues to ensure program goals are met and share best practicesQualifications & Experience :
Experience working with students in educational or recreational settings is preferredBackground in after-school programs, sports coaching, theater, or special education is highly desirableKnowledge of childhood development principles and effective classroom management techniquesAbility to educate and inspire youth through various activities while fostering a positive learning environmentCertification in First Aid is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not currently heldEffective communication skills and the ability to build rapport with children and their familiesA commitment to promoting inclusivity and understanding diverse backgrounds among youthDepartment of Justice and FBI Background check clearance18 yrs. of ageNCLB (No Child Left Behind) certification required / 48 Transferable UnitsMulti-conversational language skills are a plus (Spanish, Vietnamese)Experience or coursework in Childhood Development, or related fields, will be given preferenceKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities :
