Position Summary
The Junior Commercial Lender supports the growth and management of the Bank's commercial loan portfolio by assisting in originating, underwriting, and servicing commercial lending relationships. This role is ideal for candidates looking to build a career in commercial banking, offering hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to credit analysis, business development, and relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
Lending & Credit Support
- Assist in gathering financial information, tax returns, business documentation, and collateral details from prospective and existing borrowers.
- Assist in analyzing financial statements, cash flow, and creditworthiness under the guidance of senior lenders and credit officers.
- Prepare initial loan requests, credit write-ups, and supporting documentation for review.
- Participate in loan structuring discussions and help prepare term sheets and loan presentations.
Portfolio Management
Support ongoing monitoring of existing loan relationships, including covenant tracking, annual reviews, financial statement collection, and collateral inspections.Maintain accurate and organized loan files to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal policy requirements.Assist with monitoring past due reports, renewals, and maturities.Customer Relationship Support
Participate in customer meetings with senior lenders to observe needs assessments, loan discussions, and relationship development.Provide responsive service to commercial clients regarding documentation needs, banking services, and loan inquiries.Partner with internal departments (credit, loan operations, deposit operations, treasury / cash management) to support customer needs.Business Development Exposure
Learn to identify opportunities to cross-sell bank products such as business checking, cash management, and merchant services.Assist in prospect research, local networking efforts, and community events to help support lender visibility.Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Working Conditions
Full-time position, Monday-Friday, 8 : 00a.m.-5 : 00p.m. CT.This position may involve work outside of the standard schedule including, but not limited to, assisting customers, completing tasks or assignments, work-related events, etc.Onsite at the bank and in the local community.Frequent local travel to meet with customers and attend community events.Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.Professional attire required.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (or equivalent experience).1-2 years of commercial lending experience, preferably in community or regional banking but not required.Strong credit analysis, financial statement interpretation, and underwriting skills.Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of banking regulations, loan policy, and risk management principles.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and banking / lending software systems.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
