Position Overview
The Tax Senior will play a key role in the firm's tax department, working directly with partners and clients to deliver high-quality tax preparation and planning services. This is a full-time position offering an excellent opportunity for professional growth, including the potential to advance into a Tax Manager role.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts
- Conduct thorough tax research and provide practical, well-supported recommendations to clients
- Identify and implement tax-saving strategies to minimize client liabilities
- Prepare and review estimated tax payments, extensions, and projections
- Communicate proactively with clients to address tax-related questions and concerns
- Mentor and train junior staff, fostering technical development and quality performance
- Stay current on tax law changes, regulations, and emerging industry trends
- Participate in client meetings and contribute to strategic tax planning discussions
- Manage and strengthen client relationships through exceptional service and communication
- Collaborate with audit and advisory teams to ensure a coordinated approach to client service
- Prepare or review tax provision calculations and related disclosures for financial statements
- Respond to inquiries from the IRS and state taxing authorities
- Support firm-wide quality control and process improvement initiatives
- Participate in networking and business development opportunities
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's in Taxation preferred)Active CPA license requiredMinimum 4 years of public accounting experience with a strong focus on tax preparation and planningProficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., CCH ProSystem fx , UltraTax , or Lacerte )Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax regulationsExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skillsStrong written and verbal communication abilitiesProven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesLeadership experience with demonstrated mentoring capabilitiesAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and tax research tools
