The Respiratory Nurse is responsible for providing clinical direction and in-services regarding patient care and other respiratory related issues to the facility working with the Respiratory Therapy Director.

LPN Starting Wages : $39.40-$51.39 per hourWage Calculation is based on experience, shift, a $3.40 / hr Michigan Direct Care Incentive, and a RN $8 / hr weekend warrior program. Summary :
The Respiratory Nurse plans, coordinates and provides total nursing care for residents and provides supervision and guidance to clinical staff members.
Qualifications : Education :
Graduate of accredited LPN School of Nursing.Licenses / Certification :
Valid LPN license in the state employed.Valid CPR certification.Experience :
One year of nursing experience preferred.Job Functions :
Initiates and leads team conferences in development of individualized nursing care plans.Assesses and documents the resident's condition and nursing needs.Provides respiratory related services for established times or services within the Respiratory Care Practitioner scope of services. This may include testing the patient for qualifying clinical needs, gathering information, completing and / or submitting the information to the facility.Accurately and promptly implements physicians' orders.Assigns nursing care to team members in accordance with the resident's needs and the person's capabilities and qualifications.Administers medications, starts IVs and performs treatments for assigned residents, and documents that treatment as required company, and local, state and federal rules and regulations.Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel.Assists physicians with special tests and procedures within the scope of state specified Nursing Practice Act.Ensures that supplies are utilized economically and that equipment is clean and maintained in a safe manner.Reports and records pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents.Coordinates nursing care of residents when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments.Interviews applicants and recommends hires. Participates in counseling, disciplinary action, and termination of staff, to extent permitted by state practice act.Supervises nursing unit, which includes scheduling and directing the nursing staff to extent permitted by state practice act.Performs other tasks as assigned.Records all pertinent information on respiratory care records and patient charts. This includes consults, recommendations, and pertinent conversations with physicians, staff, patient, patient family members or other caregivers.Assists facility in regulatory issues, ensuring that respiratory equipment and supplies are stored in appropriate storage area, and appropriate signs and documentation are provided within the facility.Takes care of routine mail, phone calls and pages, as necessary. Also completes necessary filing and faxing.Communicates with facility staff regarding relevant clinical and operational issues regarding the program and patient care issues.Assess for patient’s respiratory needs. Assess oxygen saturation and use of pulse ox. Be able to assess ventilator patients and work with ventilator.Complete treatment and ventilator check in a timely fashion. Notifies supervisor of any facility concerns or needs.Completes TARs at the end of each month checking for accurate information.The ability to assess for decannulation and weaning.May participate in a wide variety of special projects.Resolves routine problems and communicates solution to appropriate personnel.Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
