Overview
NetImpact Strategies is seeking a Health Informatics Application Engineer to support a federal agency’s health data systems. The role focuses on enhancing interoperability through application development, clinical terminology management, and modernization of biomedical data tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain systems like VSAC, UMLS, RxNorm, MeSH, and the CDE Portal.
- Manage clinical terminologies and value sets, including support for CMS updates and intensional value sets using RxNorm and LOINC.
- Streamline ETL processes and implement incremental updates to reduce downtime.
- Lead enhancements to user interfaces and develop tools for browsing biomedical terminologies.
- Standardize and optimize APIs to improve interoperability across NIH systems.
- Modernize legacy applications (., MEDIT, GCMS) for cloud readiness and DevOps integration.
- Provide technical support aligned with FAIR data principles, including documentation and customer assistance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
Experience with UMLS, RxNorm, MeSH, and biomedical application development.
Proficiency in Java / J2EE, SQL / PL-SQL, JavaScript, Spring, and related technologies.
Strong background in database design, ETL processes, and cloud migration strategies (., AWS).
Familiarity with Agile development, API integration, and web accessibility standards (Section 508).
