Job Description

The University of Nevada Renos Office of Information Technology is seeking a Network Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Manager of Network Operations this position is responsible for the analysis design implementation maintenance and support of the Universitys communications infrastructure across campus and offsite locations. This includes copper and fiber wired networks wireless networks and systems supporting data voice and video. The network infrastructure encompasses routers switches access points firewalls and other network traffic engineering equipment as well as servers and software that deliver core network services and functionality.

Key Responsibilities :

Design implement and maintain network systems to meet operational and security requirements.

Implement and uphold best practices procedures and policies within the Network Operations group.

Manage and maintain Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) firewalls and data communications equipment.

Monitor intrusion detection and prevention systems as well as data encryption protocols.

Lead assigned projects and provide guidance to Assistant Network Engineers.

Supervise the work of student employees.

Required Qualifications

Associates Degree and five (5) years of related work experience OR

Bachelors Degreeand two (2) years of related work experience OR

Masters Degree and one (1) year of related work experience

Related Experience : Network operations and / or system administration

Preferred Qualifications

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent.

Schedule or Travel Requirements

Occasional work outside typical hours is required

Travel to conferences training or other network locations is required

Administrative Faculty - B

Candidates will be hired at the level that is comparable to their experience knowledge skills and abilities.
