Position Summary :

The Assistant Dean for Clinical Educator Development is a crucial role responsible for curating, assessing, and creating faculty development resources tailored specifically for clinical faculty, including clerkship directors, regular clinical faculty, and community clinical faculty / preceptors. The person in this position will play a key role in enhancing a scholarly approach to teaching, professional growth, and overall effectiveness of the clinical faculty members and will ensure that they are prepared to deliver the Roseman University College of Medicine clerkship, and clinical selective and elective curricula The incumbent will work closely with various stakeholders, including the Associate Dean for Clinical Education, the chair of the Clinical Sciences Department, the Senior Executive Dean of Academic Affairs, the Senior Executive Dean of Faculty Affairs and Learning Innovation, and community hospital partners , to ensure the delivery of high-quality faculty development programs.

This position could be combined with other clinical or teaching roles at RUCOM and the Roseman Medical Group

Essential Functions :

  • Curate, Assess, and Develop Resources :

Research, evaluate, and curate a wide range of faculty development web-based resources and materials relevant to the clinical educator .

  • Develop innovative and engaging training materials and other continuing professional development learning opportunities that align with the specific needs of clinical education faculty. Serve on the editorial board and contribute to the RUCOM Clinical Faculty Educator newsletter.
  • Training and Workshops :
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to design, implement and evaluate clinical faculty development programming.

  • Organize and deliver training sessions, workshops, and seminars on teaching methodologies, assessment techniques, the scholarship of teaching and learning, and successful implementation and assessment of the RUCOM clinical curriculum.
  • Utilize various instructional methods to enhance the learning experience and engagement of clinical faculty members.
  • Needs Assessment :
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify the specific learning needs and professional development requirements of the clinical education faculty. Utilize feedback mechanisms, surveys, and other evaluation methods to gather input from faculty members and inform the design and delivery of faculty development initiatives.

  • Collaboration and Coordination :
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Clinical Education, the chair of the Department of Clinical Sciences, the Senior Executive Dean of Academic Affairs, the Senior Executive Dean of Faculty Affairs and Learning Innovation and community hospital partners to align faculty development initiatives with the overall goals and strategic direction of the College of Medicine.

  • Evaluation and Assessment :
  • Develop and implement mechanisms for evaluating the effectiveness and impact of faculty development programming. Use assessment data to refine existing programs and develop new initiatives to address identified areas of improvement.

    Qualifications :
  • MD or DO
  • Eligible to practice medicine in the State of Nevada.
  • Demonstrated experience as a clinical educator.
  • Demonstrated experience in faculty development in medical education, or a related field.
  • Portfolio of peer-reviewed dissemination of scholarship.
