Alabama State University, College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant / Associate / Full Professor of Mechanical Engineering . This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing engineering program with a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, service and student development. The successful candidate will teach courses, conduct research and train students. The candidate is expected to participate in departmental, college and university services, as well as professional service, and advise student. Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses general and mechanical engineering courses
  • Develop and sustain a robust, externally funded research program
  • Publish research findings in high-impact, peer reviewed journals
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students, particularly in research and professional development
  • Serve on departmental, college, and university committees
  • Engage in public service and professional development activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field, demonstrated research expertise, a strong record of research productivity (peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, etc.), and evidence of or potential for securing external research funding.

It is to be noted that for the purpose of continuous improvement of faculty qualifications as faculty members complete advanced degrees, certifications, licenses, etc., the faculty member will send official documentation, within 45 days of hire, to the Office of Human Resources, and the credentialing file in Academic Affairs.
