Data Center Technician

Genesis10 is seeking a Data Center Technician for a 6-month contract position with a client located in Milwaukee, WI. This role is 100% onsite. Summary : Depending on workload, the worker may also need to support the Franklin campus. The Data Center Services team provides an efficient, risk-driven approach to managing the raised floor area of the Data Center. Services include asset lifecycle management, data destruction, physical / logical vendor security, and overall inventory accuracy. The environment is hands-on, fast-paced, and deadline oriented, requiring adaptability and in-depth experience working in large-scale Data Center environments. The individual in this role will be responsible for managing inventory and assets in accordance with team policies and maintaining accurate, up-to-date Data Center records. Responsibilities : Provide "remote-hands” support to Data Center customers. Respond to and resolve support tickets in the system. Provide Level 1 network support. Test fiber and copper cables. Clean fiber and copper cables. Clean and replace SFPs as needed. Install and maintain the structured cabling system. Maintain inventory of fiber and copper cabling. Quote and order additional materials as needed. Quote and order materials to build out additional Data Center capacity. Rack and stack IT hardware. Maintain records and document issues using the DCIM system (NetTerrain). Operate, monitor, and respond to abnormal conditions with Data Center facilities systems. Collaborate with the CEE team as required. Gather inventory and ship network equipment to field offices. Decommission returned hardware. Qualifications : Depth of knowledge working in large-scale Data Center environments. Ability to work 100% onsite at the Milwaukee office and occasionally at the Franklin campus. Hands-on experience with cabling, hardware installation, and basic network support. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a strong attention to detail.
