A leading research facility is seeking a Senior Director of Security and Emergency Managemen t to lead and implement comprehensive security strategies across a large-scale, multi-site operation. This is a high-impact role requiring an experienced leader to oversee physical security, cybersecurity, emergency management, and protective services. If you have a strong background in security operations, emergency preparedness, and strategic leadership, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact in a cutting-edge environment.

Location : Near Geneva, IL

Hire Type : Direct Hire

Salary : $250K - $300K (based on experience)

What You’ll Do

Develop and implement security and emergency management strategies to protect personnel, facilities, and assets.
Lead a team of 100+ security professionals across multiple locations, ensuring a proactive and responsive security culture.
Manage multimillion-dollar security and emergency preparedness budgets, optimizing resource allocation and efficiency.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including law enforcement and government agencies, to enhance security measures.
Oversee site access security, cybersecurity, emergency management, and personnel security operations.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to security and emergency response.
Provide high-level strategic guidance and risk mitigation plans to senior leadership.
Lead crisis response initiatives and develop training programs for emergency preparedness.
Travel occasionally to a South Dakota facility to oversee security operations and ensure alignment with organizational standards.

What We’re Looking For

Extensive experience in physical security and emergency management, preferably within a large-scale industrial, research, or government setting.

Strong background in managing cybersecurity, site security, and emergency response programs.

Proven ability to set and implement security strategies aligned with organizational goals.

Experience managing large teams (100+ reports) and working cross-functionally with executive leadership.

Strong budget management skills with experience overseeing multimillion-dollar security programs.

Ability to obtain and maintain a high-level security clearance (preferred but not required).

Willingness to be 100% on-site and travel as needed.
