Job Summary
The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations, staff management, and patient care delivery within an assigned patient care department. This role ensures compliance with clinical standards, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies while promoting optimal patient outcomes and maintaining a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Essential Functions
- Provides leadership and direction to nursing staff to ensure high-quality patient care delivery
- Develops and implements department policies, procedures, and clinical protocols
- Oversees staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet patient care needs
- Conducts performance evaluations, provides coaching, and facilitates staff development
- Ensures compliance with regulatory standards, infection control protocols, and safety guidelines
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and resolve clinical issues
- Manages departmental budgets, monitors expenses, and identifies cost-saving opportunities
- Oversees patient satisfaction initiatives and addresses patient / family concerns promptly
- Participates in quality improvement projects and clinical outcome analysis
- Develops and implements strategies to reduce hospital-acquired infections and improve patient safety

Education
Associate’s degree in nursing requiredBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferredMaster’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferredLicenses / Certifications
Current state RN license or compact state equivalent requiredBasic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
Experience
Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting requiredMinimum of two (2) years of leadership or management experience preferred
