Responsibilities Provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
• Assess patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.
• Implement and monitor patient care plan and equipment.
• Monitor, record and communicate patient condition.
• Perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
• Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcomes.
• Educate the patient and family about the health condition and provide information about community support groups and other available programs.
• Assist with care, calibration and maintenance of all equipment.
• Participate in maintaining departmental inventory levels for supplies and equipment.
• Process equipment per established cleaning / sterilization procedures.
• Respond to emergency resuscitation team calls. Requirements Licensure / Certification / Registration :
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation obtained within 4 Months (120 days) of hire date or job transfer date. New graduates must have receipt of payment for application to Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) upon hire.
• Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) preferred. New grads must have proof of passing entry level exam, Cert Radiologic Technologist. Proof can include; passing scores, cert from the National Board for Respiratory Care or letter from the National Board for Respiratory Care stating passing of exam. Education :
• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree / Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
