JOB ROLES :
The Interventionist Teacher intervenes with small groups of students who have identified gaps of 2 or more years in Reading and / or Math with the goal of closing that gap by 2 years in just one school year. The interventionist plays a crucial part in ensuring that all students are prepared to successfully participate in SST’s rigorous instruction & STEM for all initiative. This is an approach to academic intervention used to provide systematic, and appropriately intensive assistance to children who are at risk for or already underperforming as compared to appropriate grade- or age-level standards. Intervention teachers will use universal screening, Direct Instruction intervention, frequent progress monitoring, and increasingly intensive research-based instruction and interventions for students who continue to have difficulty.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- High level of content-area proficiency in Math and / or ELA as evidenced by teaching certification, field of study, or work-experience
- Education : Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution required
- Experience : Experience in a K-12 classroom setting strongly preferred
- Licenses or Certifications : State certification preferred but not required

Knowledge of core academic subject assigned and ability to pass an SST content assessment.Knowledge of curriculum and instructionAbility to instruct students and manage student behaviorStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environmentKEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Teach Critical Student Intervention (CSI) small groups consisting of students that are academically at risk in reading and / or math to include students in general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.Work closely with general education teachers in order to coordinate the support they are providing to students requiring intervention.Implement state learning standards and PLTW / Honors / AP curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectationsLearn, master and deliver relevant content and grade level curriculum, core content objectives and textsSubmit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedbackImplement formal and informal assessments to track each individual student’s progress and learning needs, adjust lesson plans accordingly and update gradebook weeklyCommunicate students’ progress with student and family on a weekly basisEffective facilitation and personal use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work related tasks.Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system that aligns to campus- wide initiatives while developing students’ character and sense of community in the classroomHelp shape and develop a school wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each studentEstablish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding and respect for the communities in which they identify.Host necessary tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needsParticipate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties, and school wide meetings and functionsEngage in summer and year-long district, school and personal learning and developmentAdditional responsibilities may include : after-school tutoring or Saturday school and are based on the needs of our scholarsWORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Light Work : may require occasional light lifting.Position is in an office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
