We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Designer to join our team in Belle Chasse, LA. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in electrical / instrument design, with previous refinery or chemical experience.

Position Summary :

The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Designer is responsible for developing detailed electrical and instrumentation designs to support industrial projects, with a focus on refinery and chemical plant environments. This role works closely with engineers, lead designers, and multidisciplinary project teams to translate project requirements into accurate and compliant drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. The E&I Designer will utilize CAD software to prepare precise layouts, ensure adherence to industry codes and safety standards, and proactively communicate scheduling changes or design issues. Field work, including site visits and collaboration with construction teams, is required to ensure designs are practical, safe, and aligned with project objectives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Design and develop electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand project requirements and develop design concepts.
  • Communicate with lead designer about scheduling changes or any issues that may arise on any project.
  • Prepare detailed electrical and instrumentation drawings, specifications, and other technical documents.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create accurate and precise drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and project specifications.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, project managers, and lead designers to ensure successful project execution.
  • Ensure that all designs and documentation comply with relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards

Required Skills / Abilities :

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in instrument / electrical design
  • Previous experience working in refinery or chemical plant environment required
  • Strong working knowledge of P&IDs, instrumentation design details, control loop preparation, location plans, control panel layout.
  • Ability to communicate and understand work issued by various disciplines and others involved in a project design
  • Eligible to work for any U.S. employer
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Climbing (stairs / ladders) and field visits are required.
  • Exposure to outdoors.
  • Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). This includes hardhat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other equipment as required.
  • Working Conditions :

  • Work is performed in an office environment and in industrial field settings.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, elevated structures, and potentially hazardous environments.
  • Required to adhere to all safety protocols and PPE requirements during field visits.
