Black & Veatch is an employee‑owned company dedicated to solving humanity’s biggest challenges through sustainable infrastructure. We are seeking an experienced Managing Director to lead Gas Markets engagements, drive new client acquisition, and shape industry‑leading solutions.
Opportunity
Own the process of acquiring new clients and managing all aspects of assigned engagements.
Develop processes and techniques to improve operations and create marketable service offerings.
Provide strategic input and thought leadership for the organization.
Contribute technical and industry expertise through all engagement phases.
Operate with minimal oversight while guiding large‑scale projects and high‑volume engagements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of strategic direction for a service offering or business line.
Manage employees in engagements, provide performance input, and facilitate career development and mentoring.
Evaluate employee contributions and provide ongoing feedback.
Build and maintain productive relationships with key client stakeholders, pursuing new opportunities and ensuring client satisfaction.
Oversee multiple engagements simultaneously, managing scope, risks, staffing, and financial targets.
Drive business development to meet billable hours and revenue goals set in the annual planning process.
Supervise and administer hiring, discipline, and pay for subordinates.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
12–15+ years in a business / consulting environment with a track record of managing multiple engagements.
Proven ability to acquire new engagements and lead teams.
Required to complete pre‑employment onboarding, including background checks and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree preferred.
Experience in wholesale or generation, production, and distribution markets; familiarity with market modeling.
5+ years in business development.
Advanced project management, client management, negotiation, and consulting process knowledge.
Strong people‑management skills including recruiting, evaluation, and mentoring.
Comfort operating at high levels of management and dealing with ambiguity.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion and performance.
