POSITION SUMMARY :
The Software Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the SCADA system. The programmer will help with improving the control systems to ensure business performance is reached at its highest level at the site. Focusing on the development of industrial applications and data solutions using Ignition SCADA, SQL, and custom automation tools. This role will work closely with internal stakeholders to design, develop, and support data-driven applications that improve visibility, efficiency, and decision-making across global manufacturing operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand, document, and translate business requirements into functional data visualization and reporting tools.
- Design, develop, and maintain Ignition applications (Perspective, Vision, and Reporting modules) for plant-floor operations and enterprise dashboards.
- Integrate Ignition with PLCs, databases, APIs, and external tools to enable real-time operational monitoring and decision support.
- Analyze application performance; debug, optimize, and resolve software issues as needed.
- Implement UI / UX best practices across user-facing tools including operator interfaces, engineering dashboards, and executive-level reports.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, datasets, and data pipelines for robust and accurate operational reporting.
- Build automated data collection and historization processes for equipment monitoring, downtime tracking, and root cause analysis.
- Create cross-site analytics tools and reports to support global operations.
- Leverage tools such as Python, JavaScript, CSS, C++, Power BI, and SAP within Ignition to build custom functionality, ensure data integrity, and streamline processes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor’s degree in computer science from an accredited institution.Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in high-speed or cGMP settings.Experience with computer hardware systems and operating system software.Familiarity with manufacturing operations and basic production principles.Self-motivated and results-driven, with strong problem-solving skills.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional team environments.Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with EH&S and environmental policies.Knowledge of Quality System procedures and ability to follow documentation requirements.
Preferred Skills and ExperienceExperience with Ignition SCADA platform (Vision, Perspective, Reporting).Familiarity with MES, historian systems, or equipment integration.Understanding of FDA cGMP or regulated manufacturing environments.Experience with data visualization, reporting tools, or business intelligence platforms.Work EnvironmentWillingness and ability to travel as needed to support operations.Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, including areas with variable temperatures.Flexibility to work outside typical business hours, including night shifts and weekends, to support production needs.May be exposed to health or safety risks that require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Demonstrated knowledge and capability in core Edgewell manufacturing processes.Proven ability to build strong working relationships across cross-functional teams.Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.The salary range for this position is $68,000 - $102,000. Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
