Are you looking for a change in your career path? Does working in food services while helping the intellectually disabled individuals reach their highest level of potential sound appealing? The Utah State Developmental Center (USDC) is looking for energetic applicants to fill a Food Service Worker II position in our Cottage Café.

Principle Job Duties

The responsibilities of this position are as follows but not limited to :

  • Preparing, cooking and serving food without waste and to meet budgetary and quality assurance expectations.
  • Meeting required Federal, State, and County Health Department food service regulations and OSHA standards of health, safety and sanitation.
  • Providing training and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who work and eat in the Cottage Café.
  • Serving customers at the front counter by taking orders and running the cash register.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A current Utah County Food Handlers permit and maintain certification.
  • One or more years of prior work experience in the food industry.
  • Prior experience working with the intellectually disabled.
  • This position requires you to be able to lift up to 50 pounds or 1 / 4 of your body weight, whichever is less with or without a reasonable accommodation.

    The Food Service Worker will help support the mission of the Utah State Developmental Center which is to serve as a statewide resource center for people with disabilities while promoting opportunity through choice and outcome based support.     Responsibilities

  • Cleaning, sterilizing and or disinfecting areas and / or equipment.
  • Inspecting and maintaining food quality, handling, and safety standards.
  • Maintaining excellent customer service skills.
  • Maintain exemplary work habits.
  • Qualifications

  • Ability to prepare food
  • Distribute food using appropriate food handling and sanitation techniques
  • Principles, theories and practices of food safety and public health protection
  • Maintain inventory; track receipt, sending and delivery of materials
  • Principles, theories, and practices inventory control
  • Use cleaning agents, products and equipment
  • Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism
  • Requires possession of a current Utah County food handler's permit
  • Ability to observe details at close range and at a distance
  • Ability to observe physical conditions, behavior or surroundings for potential areas of concern or inappropriate activity
  • Ability to hear sounds that may indicate potential areas of concern or inappropriate activity
  • Ability to verbally communicate safety concerns to others
  • Supplemental Information

  • Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, , etc.
  • The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation, crouching or crawling in restricted areas, defending oneself and / or others against physical attack.
  • Depending on area of assignment, a valid driver's license may be required.
  • Tobacco use is allowed on the campus grounds in the designated areas only.
  • You must successfully pass a criminal history check.

  • Schedule : Monday-Friday 7 : 30 am to 4 : 00 pm, subject to change per agency needs, Saturday / Sunday off.
