Job Summary :
To support the mission of Outer West Community Church (OWCC) by coordinating the weekly operations and volunteer teams of Outer West Kids, serving children from birth through 5th grade, and supporting families in early faith formation.
Primary Duties :
- Lives out OWCCs mission, vision, and values.
- Embraces OWCCs staff, partnership, and leadership covenants.
- Supports the implementation of ministry strategies and events for children and families.
- Helps create a warm and welcoming environment for families and volunteers.
- Oversees the OWCC Buddy Program and its volunteer team to support children with additional needs.
- Encourages and equips parents as the primary spiritual leaders of their children by resourcing and communicating with them regularly.
- Leads with Christlikeness and motivates with encouragement.
- Prepares, organizes, and ensures the quality and consistency of weekly programming and curriculum.
- Recruits, trains, empowers, and schedules qualified and committed volunteer teams. Ensures volunteer onboarding procedures are adhered to.
- Helps plan and participates in church-wide and family-specific events, including child dedications and outreach opportunities..
- Ensures adherence to OWCCs child safety and protection policies.
- Attends assigned staff meetings, solicits and relays information, participates in problem solving, and provides recommendations for policy changes and program development to direct report.
- Manages and participates in the annual budget preparation to ensure adequate funds for the assigned area.
- Monitors and approves expenditures; directs and implements budgetary adjustments as necessary.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
Two (2) years of accredited college or university level education. Ministry training or degree preferred.Three (3) years of experience in leading Childrens and / or Student ministry at a church in a paid capacity.Experience may substitute for education.Knowledge and Abilities :
Knowledge of Planning Center Online, Mac, PC, Office, and Google applications and equipment.Knowledge of strategic and collaborative leadership styles and models.Knowledge and experience in strategic thinking and planning.Knowledge of children ministry best practices.Knowledge of discipleship strategies for children and parents.Knowledge and experience in people and project management principles, administration practices, organization techniques, and methodologies.Knowledge and experience with budget development, expense tracking / reporting, and administration.Ability to work in a fluid and collaborative environment.Ability to lead a group to accomplish a common goal.Ability to plan and organize projects.Ability to multitask, work independently, follow direction with a high attention to detail.Ability to identify, encourage, recruit and develop culture champions to whom leadership and authority can be delegated to.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through both verbal and written means.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, members, and ministry volunteers.Ability to perform all the physical, intellectual, and analytical requirements of the position including decision making.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Occasional lifting / carrying up to 20 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting and kneeling to perform the essential functions. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment.
