Nocturnist Physician

Nocturnist Hospitalist working from 8pm-8am; responsible for cross cover and admissions.

A total of of 53+ employed Hospitalists in the group.

Program was started 23 years ago.

Shifts are 12 hours

144 shifts / years (full-time), 12 shifts per month, with flexible scheduling

Average number of admissions per night :

• Midtown : 8-12 patients each, plus cross-coverage / codes (two Nocturnists per night at each campus; 8pm-8am )
• Gateway : 10-12 patients each, plus cross-coverage / codes (two Nocturnists per night at each campus; 8pm-8am)
• Henderson : 6-8 patients per night 7pm-7am (1 nocturnist staffed)

Referral base includes ED visits, direct admissions, and regional transfers
