Interpreter Apprentice
Under the supervision of the Team Manager, the Interpreter Apprentice will provide quality professional Sign Language interpreting through video in either a call center or an at home center. Interpreters must possess thorough knowledge of and adherence to the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct. The Interpreter Apprentice will be part of the Video Interpreter Apprentice program which combines paid skills development training with processing VRS calls. This program also allows progression and further development of skill in a hands-on environment.
Job Requirements
- Work a schedule during the hours of 5am to 7pm pacific time seven days a week
- Must pass the company's interpreting skills assessment for Interpreter Apprenticeship
- Must attend and successfully complete Apprenticeship Training
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following :
Provide effective video relay service, for consumersSupport and model the company's mission and valuesProvide excellent customer service while maintaining a respectful and professional attitude with customers and colleaguesExhibit professional behavior at all times including punctuality and preparedness for shifts, respectful and collaborative interaction with colleagues and supervisors, and timely and accurate record keepingAdhere to all policies and procedures as outlined by the company and all FCC regulationsDemonstrate the ability to adapt quickly to new and changing technologiesMulti-task between interpreting effectively and utilizing video-based technologyParticipate in company-sponsored training for Professional DevelopmentExhibit the ability to meet performance expectations with minimal supervisionPossess the ability to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environmentDemonstrate strong interpersonal skills in all settingsMinimum Qualification Requirements :
Proficient ASL and spoken English language skillsAble to provide accurate interpretationGood understanding of Deaf cultureThorough knowledge of and adherence to the NAD-RID Code of Professional ConductThree to five years of experience in interpreting (preferred but not required)You must be 18 years or older to apply
Interpreter Apprentices are not eligible for shift differentials or promo pay while in the Interpreter Apprentice Program
