Senior Backend Engineer

We're building the Copilot for accountants! Soraban is a post-product-market-fit B2B SaaS startup with rapidly growing ARR and customer usage. Our platform helps tax firms automate data intake and service delivery and we're scaling fast. We're hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to help us evolve our architecture, scale our systems, and deliver reliable, performant experiences to a rapidly growing customer base.

We're a hybrid team (3 days in-office, 2 days remote), with offices in San Francisco, CA and Tempe, AZ.

Skills & Experience We're Looking For :

Production experience with Ruby on Rails, and a deep understanding of PostgreSQL, ActiveRecord, and data modeling in a high-throughput app.
Experience scaling backend systems and working with AWS services like RDS, ECS, and S3.
Strong debugging and performance tuning skills (e.g. N+1 queries, memory usage, job queues).
Comfortable with async processing (Sidekiq, queues, retries, idempotency).
Strong communication skills and a track record of collaborating across functions.

Bonus If :

You can think from customer's perspective and iterate extremely quickly.

You are a self-starter who doesn't need to be micromanaged.

You have shipped a product end-to-end (from frontend to backend / API) and scaled to a ton of active users.

Have experience with security best practices (auth, session management, secrets, logging).

You are persistent and determined. You are the type of person who will go the distance to get the job done.

You've directly worked with a founder before.
