Summary

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for an Engineer 2 at the ASM GLOBAL Broward County Convention Center

This position reports to the Director of Facilities and provides supervision and guidance while troubleshooting and resolving maintenance problems. Maintains all facility equipment in good working condition, including HVAC, plumbing and electrical plants; lighting and climate control systems; roofing systems; ground support equipment, and maintenance equipment. Maintains and

operate

the physical plant, protecting its assets while ensuring the successful production of events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Direct the repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment, plumbing, electrical, heating, and cooling units, etc.

Perform all necessary mechanical maintenance and operational procedures to assure maximum life and reliability to all mechanical systems.

Operate central HVAC equipment and mechanical equipment using sound engineering practices.

Trouble-shoot electrical and pneumatic problems and repair them in

a timely

fashion.

Possess competent knowledge of use and care of tools and equipment used in facility and grounds maintenance.

Assists

in checking and makes minor repairs on general plumbing systems, fixtures such as pipes, toilets and sinks and kitchen equipment.

Works on preventative maintenance and energy conservation.

Accountable for

maintaining

building

and grounds with particular attention towards safety, security, and asset protection.

Establish and

maintain

tool and repair parts inventory.

Complete assigned work orders

in a timely manner

and communicate work order status via tablet device or paperwork.

Monitor and

operate

energy management system, mechanical, emergency, structural, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, general equipment, and other operating systems as

required

Welding Skills a plus.

Ability to

write

routine reports and required correspondence.

Assist

other departments as needed to insure efficient operation of the Convention Center.

Adheres to all ASM Global Safety Policies and Procedures while performing within all OSHA guidelines.

Respond to visual and audible alarms from building automation and life safety systems

Make immediate decisions and communicate with all users of the facility in

an emergency situation

Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures of the construction industry including operation of tools and equipment according to established safety.

Ability to work with minimum supervision and understand verbal and written instructions.

Knowledge of general plumbing, electrical, and HVAC techniques and systems

Performs other duties, tasks, or special assignments / projects as assigned.

Education and / or Experience

HS Diploma or equivalent.

Graduate of an accredited technical school with specialized training in HVAC and / or maintenance.

Minimum of five (5)

years experience

in the operation and maintenance of a public assembly, hotel, or other commercial facility.

Minimum of three years' experience in the operation and maintenance of a public assembly, hotel, or other commercial facility.

Minimum of two years supervisory experience.

EPA universal and small appliance certification.

Qualifications

Working knowledge of major facility systems such as HVAC, electrical, security, mechanical and fire safety.

Ability to plan, organize, direct, and motivate the activities of maintenance staff.

Working knowledge of computer-controlled systems

Ability to communicate on a technical level as needed to

maintain

facility operating

systems.

Proficient computer skills to operate BMS / other automated systems.

Ability to communicate on a technical level as needed to

Must have ability to

possess

and maintain current OSHA Forklift and Personnel Lift Certification

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee

is required to

walk extensively, occasionally

required

to kneel, climb to high walkways or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to

pounds. Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms. This position requires work inside and outside of the building and some exposure to adverse conditions.
