Position Summary :
The Assistant Chief Financial Officer serves as a key strategic partner to the Chief Executive Officer, leading the hospital's financial operations, and contributing to overall organizational performance. This role requires an innovative, solutions-oriented leader who can think beyond traditional financial management, develop and implement operational controls, and drive data-informed decision-making. The ACFO is responsible for ensuring fiscal integrity, compliance with healthcare regulations, and the creation of efficient, sustainable systems that support growth and long-term success.
Key Responsibilities :
- Support the CEO in overseeing the hospital's financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and strategic planning to ensure fiscal integrity and efficiency.
- Act as a proactive thought partner to the CEO and leadership team, bringing forward innovate financial and operational solutions to improve performance and delivery.
- Assist in developing, monitoring, and analyzing the hospital's annual operating and long-range financial plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards.
- Oversee general accounting functions, accounts payable, and financial reporting; evaluate financial performance, identify trends, and analyze variances to inform executive decision making.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to ensure financial transparency, accountability, and risk mitigation.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to optimize revenue cycle, reduce costs, and enhance operational productivity.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to translate strategic goals into actionable financial and operational plans.
- Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), healthcare regulations, and internal control requirements; coordinate audits and support external financial reviews.
- Manage the hospital's capital asset planning and expenditure programs to support operational and strategic initiatives.
- Apply knowledge of healthcare finance to improve clinical and financial outcomes, monitor productivity and staffing metrics, and support cost-effective decision making.
- Partner with executive leadership to develop and implement financial strategies that advance hospital sustainability, growth, and long-term objectives.
- Provide financial insights and support to clinical and operational departments, including feasibility analyses for new programs, service lines, and initiatives.
- Knowledge of hospital accounting principles.
Education / Experience :
Education : Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field required.Master's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or related field preferred.
Experience : Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in hospital or healthcare finance, accounting, or public accounting / audit required.Computer Skills : Proficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteLicense / Certification : Certified Public Account (CPA) designation preferred.
